Apostille not required: Red tape reduction for EU citizens living or working in another Member State
As of February 16 Entry into force of Regulation 2016/1191 simplifies the circulation of certain public documents in the EU. A number of bureaucratic procedures will no longer be necessary when presenting public documents issued in one EU country to the authorities of another EU country.
Remarkably, public documents issued by the authorities of an EU country must now be accepted without the need of an “ apostille” (authenticity stamp). Also, the regulation simplifies the rules concerning translation requirements.
