The Italian Constitutional Court has scheduled a public hearing for 11 March 2026 to examine the constitutionality of Article 3-bis of Law 91/1992, introduced by Decree-Law No. 36/2025 and later converted into Law No. 74/2025

The hearing will focus on the constitutional challenge submitted by the Tribunal of Turin, which questions whether Article 3-bis complies with key constitutional principles, including equality before the law, protection of acquired rights, and legislative reasonableness.

A separate constitutional question from the Tribunal of Mantua also challenges Article 3-bis, but there is currently no communication indicating that it will be examined during the March 11 hearing.

The Court’s decision will be crucial in determining the future application of Article 3-bis and its impact on citizenship procedures. However, please note that the ruling is usually issued a few months after the hearing.
