Government Proposes Substantial Changes to Immigration and Citizenship Rules

The Italian government has approved today several amendments to Italian Immigration and citizenship law. In particular, there are significant changes to the rules governing the issuance of residence permits on grounds of humanitarian protection and on the requirements to apply for Italian citizenship by descent, including an increase in processing times. The decree will have to be approved by the Parliament. Further updates will be provided as soon as available.
