The Italian Ministry of the Interior has just issued an official circular (No.26185) providing operational guidance for the implementation of Law No. 74/2025, which converts, with significant amendments, Decree-Law No. 36 of March 28, 2025, titled “Urgent Provisions on Citizenship.”
Ministerial circulars are tools used to interpret legislation and ensure application across the Italian Public Administration (Municipality, Italian Consulates abroad, etc.) . They offer public offices, local authorities, and institutions, directions on how the newly introduced Law must be applied.
With the Circular 26185, the Ministry aims to enhance the uniformity of the procedures for granting Italian citizenship, in line with the reforms introduced by Law No. 74/2025.
Our team is currently reviewing the content of the newly issued circular in conjunction with the provisions introduced by Law No. 74/2025.
