Minor children’s registration: Children born abroad to Italian Parents

Children born abroad to Italian parents may be entitled to Italian citizenship depending on several factors such as their date and place of birth, or the citizenship status of their parents and/or grandparents.
Our team can assist in confirming a minor child’s eligibility for Italian citizenship and provide tailored guidance throughout the application process, which may vary depending on the peculiarity of the case.

Our assistance includes:

  • Direct check with the competent authority regarding the procedure to follow;
  • Drafting a customized list of documents, tailored to the minor child’s case,
  • Assistance in preparing the application for the minor child, including document review and procedural guidance;
  • Support in preparation of drafts if required by authorities, as part of the application process;
  • Continuous guidance throughout the entire procedure, including support in handling communication with the Italian authorities.

AIRE assistance & passport application and renewal

Italian citizens residing abroad must register with AIRE (Anagrafe degli Italiani Residenti all’Estero) at the consular authority having jurisdiction over their place of residence.

An Italian citizen registered with AIRE can access services typically provided by Italian municipalities (such as issuing identity cards and passports, disbursing any benefits, assistance with repatriation, requesting certificates, etc.) at the competent Consular Office.

After registering with AIRE, Italian citizens can proceed with the request for their Italian passport at the same consulate.

Our team can guide you step by step through these processes. Our assistance includes:

  • Direct check with the competent authorities;
  • Complete guidance on collecting and preparing the necessary documentation;
  • Advice on how to submit the registration request with AIRE;
  • Support regarding appointment scheduling for passport application or renewal;
  • Assistance throughout the entire process.

Name change procedure

Any Italian citizen who intends to change or modify their first name and/or surname must obtain authorization from the Italian Prefecture of the province where they reside or where their birth was registered.

Such requests are considered exceptional and are only allowed in objectively relevant situations, supported by appropriate documentation and significant motivations. Our team can guide you in completing this process.

Our assistance includes:

  • case assessment;
  • Referral to the competent offices and direct check with the relevant authorities;
  • guidance on collecting and preparing the necessary documentation;
  • assistance throughout the entire process.
