New Italian Citizenship Law Stands Firm: Constitutional Court Rejects Challenge
The Italian Constitutional Court has issued an official press release announcing that the constitutional issues raised by the Court of Turin against the new citizenship law have been rejected, as they were deemed inadmissible and/or not grounded.
The statement anticipates the key points that will be explained in greater detail in the forthcoming judgment.
Three additional constitutional questions, raised by the courts of Mantua and Campobasso, are still pending before the Court. While today’s outcome could represent a negative precedent, these remaining cases concern a broader section of the law, leaving some possibility for a potentially different decision.
Further information will be provided once the full motivation is published.
