New Rules on Short Stay Schengen Visas

New Rules on Short Stay Schengen Visas
5 February 2020

Schengen Visas

Starting from 2 February 2020, visa applications for short stay Schengen visas (tourism, business, etc.):

  • can be filed up to 6 months before the intended travel (instead of 3 months as it used to be)
  • it will be easier for frequent travellers with a positive visa history to obtain multiple-entry visas with long validity (from 1 to 5 years)
  • applications can now be filled in and signed electronically
  • The visa fee is increased from €60 to €80.

The new rules will facilitate tourism and business as well as provide more resources for consulates to provide better service and reinforce the possibility to detect possible risks connected to security and irregular migration.
