By decree dated October 6, 2025, the President of the Court of Naples has officially recognized the significant backlog affecting citizenship cases and has appointed eight honorary judges to the section specialized in citizenship matters.

This measure is expected to accelerate the processing of pending cases, leading to the scheduling of hearings for cases already filed but not yet assigned, the reallocation of proceedings among judges, and even the rescheduling of hearings that had been set as far ahead as 2027–2028.
